Nice Alternate to Stock Photography

Comcast Customer Login

Comcast used to be one of those bland sites that used standard stock photography. Today, I logged in, though, and was treated to a pretty funny picture of a customer hassling with a computer installation issue in less than ideal circumstances. I like it. It reminds me of the sense of humor often apparent in IKEA’s advertising.

I have been in situations when a designer wanted to use a photo that had humor, and almost invariably the person making the final decision decides instead to go with the blander stock photo approach.

I still don’t really like Comcast, for its extremely high pricing of products, but they did win a little goodwill from me for this picture. That has to count for something?
