Today's Magic Word: Associate

For some reason I always find myself needing to call my HMO, Cigna HealthCare, with a question that is beyond the options provided by the voice activated menu system.

In other words I get lost in an incomprehensible maze of a telephone menu system.

However, recently I figured out that if you say the magic word, “associate”, you can bypass the menu and get connected directly with a real person.

Here is a list of other companies and their shortcuts. However, this list is old, so who knows if it still works.
