I have been on Facebook now for about 6 months. Like many people, I didn’t have a good understanding of what Facebook was before setting up a profile. It is one of those things that just has to be experienced to fully comprehend.
For me, the nice thing about Facebook — at least the way I use it — is that the people I am interacting with on it are real people who I actually know or have known in my life.
This is a big change from days past of trying to have conversations and interactions with complete strangers on a message board where invariably a troll would show up, or misunderstood sarcasm or irony turns a casual conversation into a flame war.
It is so nice to reconnect with some people I haven’t seen much since I graduated High School, and also keep in touch with people who I no longer work with (but sure wish I still did).
One of my Facebook friends posted this advice piece about Facebook’s privacy settings. I found it very instructive!
